1981 Shaws Secretarial Services purchased by Don Bird and renamed Select Personnel. At this time, Select was the only Dunedin-owned and operated Secretarial Agency. It specialised in office/commercial, temping and permanent placements.
1994 Purchased by Annabel Blaikie, the industrial division of the business was developed.
1997 Purchased by current owner - Karen Bardwell (January 1997)
1998 Commenced specialised recruitment and HR consulting.
2000 Opening of a Christchurch branch with 2 staff. By 2005 this had grown to 6 staff. Accredited and commenced as psychometric testing provider, in financial partnership with Lisa Edwards; an existing employee of Select.
2001 Significant system enhancements and standardisation of the business operating systems and procedures.
2003 Largest recruitment company in Dunedin.
Largest privately owned and operated recruitment company in the South Island.
Opened Oamaru branch under the management of Sarah Warhurst, a senior consultant from Dunedin.
Commenced candidate recruitment from the UK, Scotland, South Africa and Germany (2006) having developed suitable alliance partners through annual recruitment drives visiting these markets.
2004 Launched Optima as a separate company (executive recruitment and human resource consulting division) under the management and partial shareholding of Jan Hudson.
Purchased a Community Enterprise providing recruitment services on the West Coast of the South Island.
Commenced West Coast Operation commercialisation programme.
2006 Established Base Recruitment (Sydney operation) - October 06. Directorship offered to and accepted by 2 senior Select staff for the Australian company.
