Karen Bardwell

Managing Director

Karen has owned and operated Select Recruitment for the past 19 years. Karen provides an extensive recruitment and business management experience, combined with a proven business acumen and passion for getting the right result for clients and candidates. Karen has an extensive background in organizational development, recruitment and human resource strategy, having worked in the human resource field since 1991. Karen is a professional member of the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand, a member of Institute of Directors and a Director on the Otago Chamber of Commerce Board. An expert in her field, Karen has developed Select Recruitment into a market leader with a successful history in delivering sustainable value for clients and candidates.

 

 

Dean Delaney

Commercial Business Manager

As Commercial Business Manager Dean is responsible for the oversight and development of significant commercial relationships within the business and is responsible for growth revenue. With his extensive networks and thorough understanding of the local and national markets, Dean is client-centric and prides himself on delivering positive results to his clients each and every time. Dean has a genuine approach to business and has a background with large multi-national organisations which ensures Dean is competitive, driven and solutions focused.

 

 

 

 

 

Lisa Edwards

Lisa has been with Select for over 20 years and offers a wealth of recruitment experience within the Technical and Executive divisions. Lisa has extensive knowledge across a range of sectors including Civil, Mining, Engineering, Construction, Primary Industry, Education and Utilities. Her experience includes psychometric assessment and evaluation, as well as human resource consultancy and project management. Lisa uses her strong analytical capability to deliver effective candidate measurement and evaluation, ensuring the right candidate is selected for the job. 

Gemma Muldrew

Recruitment
Manager

Before joining Select’s Industrial division, Gemma worked in regional retail management. As an Area Manager for an Australasian Retail chain, she gained an understanding of business drivers, operations, HR and staff management. Gemma works closely with clients and candidates to match the right person to the right job, and is dedicated to putting hard working and skilled candidates into great roles. If you are seeking short term and temporary work in the industrial sector, or wish to hire staff for your industrial business, Gemma will be happy to help. 

Brooklyn Middleton

Industrial Temping Resourcer

As the Industrial Temping Resourcer, Brooklyn provides support to the industrial team and ensures there is a steady flow of high calibre candidates ready for work. Her background in busy hospitality environments, combined with an Honours degree in Management provides Brooklyn with the ability to understand our clients needs, and quickly problem solve to suit the demands of the temping market. Originally from Queenstown, Brooklyn has since made Dunedin her home and is a first point of contact for industrial temp clients and candidates.

Marlene Langford

Senior Consultant
Commercial Division

Before joining Select in 2012, Marlene had a successful career in the service industry covering Operational, HR and Revenue Management. With a strong working knowledge of human resources and management, Marlene leads the Commercial Division at Select. Working alongside a temping consultant and Commercial Business Manager, Marlene ensures our candidates and clients are well matched that the process runs smoothly for everyone involved. She also looks to generate or chase opportunities for our pre-qualified candidates in temping, fixed term or permanent positions. 

Samantha Veale

Commercial Temping Consultant

As a Commercial Temping Consultant, Sam works with a wide range of businesses and candidates to find the right person for casual, short and long term temping assignments. Sam has worked in a variety of roles across New Zealand and Australia which gives her valuable insight into the needs of different organisations. After a successful career as a Senior Travel Consultant, Sam has found her passion in recruitment. If you are seeking short term and temporary work in the commercial sector, or wish to hire staff for your commercial business, Sam will be happy to help. 

Tracey Walter

Payroll & Accounts Manager

Tracey commenced her position of Payroll and Accounts Administrator in January 2013, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in accounts administration.  She has spent the last 10 years working in this field along with raising and caring for her children.  She has a professional and focused outlook and enjoys the fast paced nature of our business.

Helen Duffy

Systems and Compliance Officer

Helen has been a part of the Select Team since 2002. Her focus is systems, IT and compliance including health and safety administration. Ensuring that our candidates are safe at work is integral to our business, and Helen approaches this with a practical approach and strong attention to detail. Helen has an in-depth working knowledge of our people, our systems and our business; and in particular, what separates us from competitors. Helen is our “go to” person, and an asset to the team. 

Jane Brooks

Candidate Care & Resourcing Coordinator

Since joining Select, Jane has assisted many divisions within the business, ensuring all of our candidates and clients are put into contact with the right consultant. Predominately managing reception and general administration, Jane is often the first face you see when you visit Select. With previous experience in one of Central Otago’s busiest tourist destinations, Jane is knowledgeable, capable and ready to assist.

Liz Cobby

Recruitment Resourcer

After gaining a Bachelors of Commerce in Management and Tourism, Liz held variety of roles in New Zealand across administration, education and hospitality. She has spent the last 4 years in Whistler, Canada working in the events industry as well as manging a busy café. Her well rounded skills and experience working in fast paced environments with a variety of people means she is well suited to a career in recruitment.



Wendy Johnston

Administrative Assistant

Wendy’s role as Administrative Assistant provides valuable support across all divisions of the business. Wendy has extensive experience in financial banking and customer services roles which have provided her with great attention to detail and a systems orientation. Her willingness and drive to assist our business ensures information is accurate and readily available, so that we can promptly place great candidates.
