Senior IT Engineer

Our fast growing MSP client is looking for a skilled, forward‑thinking Senior IT Engineer to join their high performing Dunedin team.

In this pivotal role, you'll lead the design, delivery and ongoing optimisation of advanced IT solutions for a loyal and diverse client base.

As the Senior IT Engineer, you'll be the final escalation point for complex issues, own critical projects, mentor developing engineers and contribute to the technical excellence the business is known for. About the Role

You'll architect robust, scalable environments, guide system performance and uplift engineering capability. Working closely with clients, you'll translate business needs into secure, stable, best practice solutions across cloud, server, and network technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead advanced technical design, planning and implementation across cloud, server and network environments
• Act as the final escalation point for complex incidents
• Deliver major projects including upgrades, migrations and deployments
• Mentor and support Level 1 and Level 2 engineers
• Conduct proactive system audits and identify opportunities for improvement
• Build strong client relationships and contribute to IT strategy
• Maintain clear, accurate technical documentation
• Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations
• Ensure alignment with security standards and compliance obligations
• Support pre sales through technical scoping and solution input

About You

You're a confident, capable technical specialist with broad experience across modern IT environments. You communicate well, troubleshoot efficiently and enjoy supporting others' growth. Your mix of technical depth and people skills will help you thrive in this client focused team.

Ideally, you'll bring

• A degree in IT, Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years' experience in IT support or systems roles (MSP experience preferred)
• Microsoft certifications
• WatchGuard certifications (advantageous)
• Technical strengths across:
• Windows Server & Active Directory
• Networking (DNS, DHCP, firewalls, routing)
• Microsoft 365 & Azure (VMs, virtual networking, Azure AD, WVD, PaaS)
• Security tools and endpoint protection
• VOIP experience would be a bonus
