Forklift Service Technician

Our client is a market leader in new and used materials handling, construction, and environmental equipment, with a strong national presence across 18 branches throughout New Zealand.

Due to continued growth, their Dunedin branch is seeking an experienced Technician / Mechanic to join the team. This role will see you working primarily on forklifts, both in the workshop and out in the field across the Dunedin region.

About the Role

You'll be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

  • Planned and reactive maintenance
  • Major overhauls and refurbishments
  • Preparing new and used equipment for delivery
  • Warranty repairs
  • Delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service

This is a hands-on role offering plenty of variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to work with modern equipment.

What We're Looking For

We're after someone who is:

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • A team player who enjoys problem solving
  • Comfortable using diagnostic software and completing admin tasks
  • Physically fit and capable of handling the demands of the role
  • Experienced in working on forklifts (this is essential)

Skills & Experience

  • 3-4+ years' proven mechanical experience in one or more of the following:
    • Material handling equipment
    • Diesel or motor mechanics
    • Auto electrical
  • Relevant trade qualification (heavy diesel, petrol mechanic or auto electrician)
  • Strong diagnostic, hydraulic, and electrical skills
  • Excellent customer communication skills
  • Full Class 1 NZ driver's licence

Desirable:

  • Forklift, wheels, tracks and rollers (WTR) endorsements

Hours & Flexibility

  • Monday to Friday (40-45 hours per week)
  • Overtime and Saturday work available
  • On-call roster required
