Industrial Electrician - ITS

We're working with a well-regarded organisation in the infrastructure sector to recruit an experienced Industrial Electrician to join their Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) team.

Reporting to the ITS Contract Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality electrical work across critical transport infrastructure. This is a hands-on, varied role involving planned and reactive maintenance, new installations, and technical support-particularly in the areas of traffic signals, street lighting, and ITS networks.

You'll work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and project staff to deliver reliable, safe, and compliant outcomes across the network, with opportunities to support additional contracts as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake electrical work in line with contract requirements, including planned and reactive maintenance and new installations
  • Carry out electrical testing and compliance checks, particularly for traffic signal systems
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and installations of street lighting and associated infrastructure
  • Assist in maintaining ITS communications networks to minimise disruption and system failures
  • Provide technical support across ITS programmes as required
  • Assist the Project Manager with job planning, scheduling, and coordination
  • Work collaboratively with ITS staff, supervisors, subcontractors, and plant operators
  • Participate in an on-call roster, including night and weekend work as required
  • Support general electrical and field duties across contracts

About You

  • Registered Electrician with a current EWRB practising licence
  • Full Class 1 driver's licence (minimum requirement)
  • Proven industrial electrical experience, ideally within infrastructure, ITS, or similar environments
  • PLC and automation experience (advantageous)
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Able to plan and manage jobs independently, including operating and maintaining equipment without supervision
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and stakeholders
  • Computer literate, including completing job/time sheets and operating telemetry systems
  • A team player who is cooperative and collaborative
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented, with the ability to use initiative
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology
  • Flexible and able to participate in after-hours and on-call work
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality workmanship
